Giga-Scale Development

Leading California Market Entry and Offshore Wind Expansion

Challenge

Invenergy, one of the largest renewable developers in North America, sought to expand into California’s highly complex and regulated energy market. Success required not only navigating legislative and regulatory processes but shaping them to enable large-scale renewable and offshore wind development.

Approach

As Vice President of Government Affairs, Erin launched Invenergy’s California government affairs presence from the ground up—building a Sacramento-based team, establishing trade association memberships, and forging strategic relationships with decision-makers. She led policy strategy and coalition-building efforts to pass and implement landmark clean energy legislation, aligning state priorities with company growth goals.

Impact

Erin’s leadership secured market signals (via policy decisions) supporting over $1 billion in offshore wind projects and accelerated the implementation of foundational legislation within twelve months. Her strategy positioned Invenergy as a trusted partner in California’s clean energy transition, and established the company’s long-term policy and market footprint on the West Coast.
